Chef Sumanadasa Welideniya, executive chef at Auyrveda Pavilions, expertise in ayurvedic culinary extols the mango. The mango, he explained, apart from being rich in vitamins A and C as in most fruits, also contains a special enzyme that has stomach soothing properties. These enzymes while aiding digestion also results in an overall sense of contentment, which makes the mango a good low-calorie comfort food. The mango also contains up to 40% of our daily fiber requirement, which he said is essential to protect against degenerative diseases, especially with regard to the heart and prevent certain types of cancer and lower cholesterol levels.
Chef Sumanadasa believes starting the day with a mango is a healthy start. For his guests he whips up a special smoothie that must be taken before breakfast, preferably at room temperature. This concatenation is so easy to prepare and flavorful with its four distinct standing out in perfect harmony.
