The Khelm Kola Sambol

The Khelm kola is a 3-pronged leaf plant that cannot be grown, but is germinated through 'natural forces' and found only in Yala - the largest wildlife animal sanctuary in Sri Lanka. The uniqueness of this leaf is to reduce blood sugar levels, making it an ideal dish for those with blood sugar related diseases such as diabetes. However, the effectiveness is of this leaf is such that this should not be consumed more than once a week.
 
Ingredients
1. 250 g Khelm Kola
2. 1 small tomato
3. 5 - 7 shallots
4. 2 - 3 green chilies
5. ½ lime
6. Salt
 
Serves 4
Method
1. Roughly chop the Khelm kola. If chopped finely, the leaf will turn slimy
2. Add all the ingredients and season with salt
