Watalappam
This is the typical dessert during the Eid-ul-Fitr festival. |

350 g jaggery (palm
sugar), grated |

2 tbsp water |

250 ml thick coconut milk |

8 eggs |

4 tbsp sugar |
| 6. |
½ salt |
| 7. |
½ tsp nutmeg |

¼ tsp cardamom seeds, powdered |

1 tsp vanilla |
| 10. |
½ cup cashew, sliced |

| Serves 6 - 8 |

- Heat jaggery with 2 tbsp water.
- Beat eggs with sugar and salt. Add the melted jaggery,
coconut milk and beat well.
- Strain into a bowl.
- Add nutmeg, cardamom and vanilla.
- Cover the bowl and steam in simmering water for 30 - 40
minutes. Sprinkle the cashews halfway and continue to steam
until set.
